Carlisle proudly hosts 21 Flat and National Hunt fixtures from its niche in between the Borders and the Lake District, providing the local tourist economy with an ideal opportunity for visitors to experience a day out at the races. From the racers point of view, the course requires exact pacing due to its galloping nature followed by an uphill finish which can cause some horses to struggle.
