Betfair Betting Exchange

At
Betfair there is NO BOOKIE. All bets on Betfair
have been placed there by users who either want to
have a bet in the normal way (back), or offer odds
to other punters (lay). Bets are matched between
people with opposing views. Differences between
betting with Betfair vs. a bookmaker: You can back
or lay a bet. You can choose the odds you want to
play at Commission and Tax. You can bet whilst the
game is in play.

How much commission do
Betfair charge?
You do not pay tax at Betfair, and commission is
only paid on your net winnings on each market.
This is particularly beneficial if you have
multiple bets on a single market such as the
Premiership Winner market. Some of your bets may
win, some may lose, however you only pay
commission on your NET winnings. If your bets in a
particular market amount to a net loss, you do not
pay commission.
We offer a customer incentive
scheme. Your Commission rate is set according to
how much you use Betfair.
THE MORE YOU BET THE LESS YOU
PAY:

Betfair's Commission Structure Explained: |
|
Betfair's customer
incentive scheme is determined on a sliding scale,
the lowest rate of which is 2%. The top rate is
set at 5%. Each Betfair user will be allocated a
level on a weekly basis. The more you bet the less
commission you pay. |
|
|
|
Users will be awarded
commission points every time they bet. Commission
Points are earned from your net profit or loss per
market. You can gain 1 point per £25 profit or
loss per market. For example, if you profit £200
on a single market, you would gain 8 commission
points. If your overall loss is £100 on a single
market then you would gain 4 commission points. |
|
|
|
The more points you
accrue, the lower your commission will be. Your
weekly volumes are calculated on Sunday evenings
and your new commission rate is set. Commission
levels are not determined purely from the previous
week's spend. Instead they are based on spending
over a much longer period. Points from previous
weeks decay over time, so it is possible that your
rate can go up as well as down. Thus, points for
the current week carry more weight than points for
last week which in turn carry more weight than
points from the week before etc. |
|
|
|
Commission will be
charged according to the rate each user was on at
the time of settlement and not at the time the bet
was placed - your account statement will show the
rate at which commission has been charged on each
event. Here is a table with the betfair commission
rates and points: |
